What is Global Warming?

The primary reason for the creation of Energy Saving 4 Anyone is to highlight ways of energy saving which have become extremely important due to the onset of Global Warming, or ‘The Greenhouse Effect’. It seems fitting then to start with a post to explain briefly what global warming actually is.

Global Warming is defined as:

“an increase in the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere (especially a sustained increase that causes climatic changes) ”

Global warming is thought to be predominantly caused by the release of greenhouse gasses like carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by humans. These gases are present in the atmosphere all the time and come from natural sources like cracks in the earth’s surface. But it is addittion of more of the these gases by humans, through pollution from cars, industry, farming etc that raise these naturally present gases above normal levels and therefore contribute to global warming.

From global warming occurs climatic changes that can potentially damage the earth massively. From the destruction of entire eco-systems, to flooding right through to drought. The list is endless and nobody truly knows the consequences.

Below is an illustration of the effect:

IMPORTANT! To be able to proceed, you need to solve the following simple math (so we know that you are a human) :-)

What is 13 + 12 ?
